Coping with an aging society is a critical issue that China must prioritize in the future. According to projections, by 2030, China's population aged 60 and above will reach 400 million, including 300 million aged 65 and above—a figure surpassing the total population of the United States. Coping with an aging population is both arduous and urgent.
Sam Radwan, co-founder of ENHANCE International, stated that the Chinese government recognizes the need to demonstrate that it is taking action to counter the country's declining birth rate, but the measures may still fall short. He also noted that, regarding the aging population, China's National Health Commission has stated that the government can only guarantee basic living standards for the impoverished population, while the unmet needs of middle- and high-income groups will be addressed by the private sector.
