Sam Radwan, Founder of ENHANCE International, joined the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for the podcast, “Is This the Calm Before the Storm?”
Drawing on more than 20 years of experience working on healthcare developments in China, Sam shared his perspectives on the challenges facing China’s healthcare system and the future of international healthcare cooperation.
The discussion highlighted several important issues. At the time, only 66% of people over the age of 80 had been vaccinated, while China’s 400 million rural poor faced significantly different healthcare realities. Sam also discussed the growing number of Chinese seeking medical care overseas and Hong Kong’s development as a medical center
Sam emphasized the importance of continued cooperation, expressing his hope that “cooler heads will prevail” as both countries recognize that “we need one another in health.”
